Year 2
Welcome to Our Year Two class page
Year two is a busy and exciting place where the children love learning. We have a busy and exciting curriculum that enables us to develop many skills as we continue our school journey. Some of our particular favourites are history where we learn about the gruesome reality of the plague and the super villain Guy Fawkes and his sneaky ways ... off with his head! In Year 2, we love our DT theme weeks where we get to be designers and create wonderful designs including a sugar cube bridge, a wind powered moon buggy and even some yummy cous cous ... mmmm.
We also work very hard in Year Two to develop our maths skills, developing our number fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division calculations. Following on from this, we then dive deeper into the fun and exciting world of maths problem solving. Indeed, we love a maths game or two in Year 2! In English we work very hard to develop our skills in reading, exploring texts like Jim and the Beanstalk and the Alternative Goldilocks and using them to stimulate exciting pieces of writing to showcase all of our developing skills as we become budding authors. We also love our science learning too and love to learn about animals and their habitats amongst many other exciting topics.
Often, we enjoy venturinh outside to learn and explore, whether this be looking at materials in science or getting stuck in the mud (literally) as we make mud pies, search for minibeasts and explore the changing forest in our forest school area. We just love forest school! Have guessed by now that Year 2 is a great place to be? Learning and fun go hand in hand. But best of all, we always find the time to develop our skills of being a great citizen and practise putting our love in action in our community along the way, incorporating our Christian values into everything that we do and taking every opportunity to let our lights shine brightly! We love our Year Two family and we are sure that you will too!
